it’s been a while
(My brain auto-fills “since I could…” after that, but I’m resisting adding it to the title.)
Hello, fronds!
So, I’ve been querying—there are too many blog posts out there in the world about how exhausting it is, though, so I don’t want to linger. I’ve got four or five letters out there in the wind right now, and I am continually trying to keep my expectations low, but I hope. I always hope!
But for the first time in about two years, I’m actually writing again! I can’t talk about it yet—I’ve discovered that if I tell people about my projects when they are still too new, they will run away and abandon me, and I will never finish writing them. I think it’s because once I tell people about what I’m writing, there are Expectations. Even if it’s just my own Expectations. And once there are Expectations, I suffer from Pressure, and then I don’t want to write anymore.
So, suffice it to say that I’m writing something I am deeply excited about and cannot wait to share a hint about. The characters have been noodling around in my head for a while, and I finally found a plot for them. It’s an unusual trio for a fantasy novel, so I’m pretty thrilled I’ve got them all in the same place, having an adventure.
I’ve also been doing some cool stuff for one of my other hobbies—everyone else got into sourdough during the pandemic; I got into bookbinding. It’s not something I’m particularly great at, and nothing I make could sit on a bookstore shelf (I’d have to learn embossing and/or leatherworking, and I’m still only comfy with bookcloth and paint pens), but I love it. I love taking something I love and getting to wrap it up in a new cover that I created for it because I love it. I want to post more about my little amateur endeavor in the near future, and possibly add a page to this website for posting pictures of each of my projects. So, look forward to that!
A brief update, but with the promise of new stuff coming soon. I’ll take it.
Thanks for reading!
